"Grow or Die"

Made for Pirate Software - Game Jam 16

Gameplay

I Must Consume is a tactical strategy game where you control a ravenous living weapon. Grow your mass by consuming enemies for energy, while racing to smother enemy spawners before they overwhelm you. Every move risks destruction – expand strategically to survive. Outsmart their attacks, feed your hunger, and dominate the grid.

Controls

LMB Hold and Drag outward from a cell in order to grow.

this fells like one of the internet games i playd as a kid. it was realy nice! last level was realy tricky but i recoverd

This was so nice! I needed some time to understand, and then I played a lot. graphics look actually cool, I really enjoyed it. Just to say something, knowing how many biomasses you had left was a bit difficult.
Congrats!

Oh yeah, that was something I was uncertain of when playing myself. I didn't want the player to have any real need to look at the UI during combat. I suppose I could have displayed it when you highlighted a biomass, or something similar. Food for thought. Thank you!

Extremely well executed game, I found myself saying “CONSUME” many times. You nailed that feel.

It is fun to play and engaging. My only critique is you could integrate the how to play screen into the game design to show the player through playing rather than reading it.

Awesome game overall, keep at it!

I really appreciate your feedback and criticism! I did have a tutorial scenario planned out, but I had to cut it due time constraints. I wanted to add a laboratory where you break out of containment and start consuming scientists before being overwhelmed and recaptured. This would have allowed for more context about your purpose while simultaneously teaching the game.

I have consumed everything! Very satisfied thank you!

Excellent, I'm glad you enjoyed it

nice and cute!!!!

Thank you for playing!

Nice little game, couldn't finish the final level, was too hard for me. But it was fun and polished, congratz!

Thank you, I wanted a good challenge for the limited levels I put together. But I think more balancing is in order lol
